Hi All. So finally, GBPEC goes Wi-Fi!!!
From the last 2 yrs the college has witnessed Dark-Age. The Age in which Internet was not available to an Engineering College, that too for a college which is at such a remote place, Internet there was a medium of communication with the world and to know the latest happening in Technology and Science. I remember when i was a student there, we used to feel proud of our Internet facilities as we were allowed to use Internet Labs for almost 24hrs. But the scenarior has changed in the last 2-3 yrs, now the students faced many problems due to this. Sometimes they used to manage it on their own using GPRS.
Finally, the college is moving out of the Dark-Age as the Computer Science Block goes Wi-Fi from 20th of Aug 2009. Hearty Congratulations to all GBPECians on this great occasion. Although its quite limited in area (only it work in 100m radius of the CSED), but anyways this is also an achievement for a college in which Internet wasn't available for the last 2 yrs.
Still a question comes to my mind- That why have they gone for Wi-Fi of the CSE Department, where u can find all the computers well connected thru Ethernet? They shud have gone firstly with the hostels, specially Girl's Hostel.
But i m Happy that finally college administration is doing something for the student's sake, and do hope that the days will not be far when we can see our full campus Wi-Fi.
